Thread: GMT in the $3k range?

Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by GX9901
I\'m fairly certain I want a Seiko Ananta Spring Drive GMT . But since it would be a pretty significant chunk of change for me, I would like to see if there are other GMT watches in the same general price range (max $3.5k street price) I should consider. Is there another watch in the same general price range that offers what this watch offers minus, of course, the spring drive? (I\'d like to ...

Well for that price, you might want to consider a previously-loved Rolex Explorer II or GMT Master -' + '- they can be had in that price range. Clearly doesn\'t have power reserve, but it\'s a solid movement and a classic gmt. Otherwise, I don\'t know of one and your Seiko looks great. ~Ross

There\'s a funky looking Anonimo and a nice looking Baume with the features you want in your range but I imagine they use the 2893. A crazy nice Cartier that\'s like 5k on ebay. It\'d be hard to beat that Seiko you like I think. Good luck!

What about the Seiko SD600? It\'s a huge dive watch but it also has a GMT hand and PR indicator (Spring Drive).

I would go with the Explorer II. The Cartier Pasha GMT reserve might be out of your price range. Anonimo Firenze dual time is really cool but the dial is mad busy, dont know if thats your thing or not.

The spring drive would be a great pick, but other GMT\'s in that range include a preloved Rolex GMT II, Rolex Explorer, Chopard Mille Miglia.

Explorer would be very nice indeed.

I pulled the trigger on the Seiko Ananta Spring Drive GMT. Should have it by Friday. I\'ll probably post some pictures over at the Seiko forum. Pop in for a look if you\'re interested this weekend. Again, thanks for your suggestions. There were some good ones, but this model really does it for me on multiple levels, so I decided to go with it.

Well done! You\'ll love the Spring Drive movement, and the refinement of the whole piece.
