The other opportunity it suggests to me is to switch from iPhone to a phone usable on another network other than AT&T. I doubt this a problem of *internet* bandwidth, but of AT&T bandwidth in its cellular network prior to the points where it bridges to the internet.

I haven't investigated it but American Tower sounds pretty far away from NP, and lacking a moat is a competitive business. Is there any lock on a critical piece of technology? I suspect that wireless operators increase coverage reluctantly, since it's expensive and present customers tend to be locked in.
