Thread: Funchal Christmas Trip Report with Photographs

Hi Malc, Merry Christmas & Welcome to Trip Advisor! There are two hop on hop off buses in Funchal . You will need the yellow Carristur hop on, hop off bus to visit Camara de Lobos. Don’t mix this up with the city sightseeing hop on hop off bus which is red. Have a fantastic time!

Lovely report. Lucky lucky you going to Madeira in December. We have been visiting for over 25 years and have been to several New Years on the Island as well as other times of the year and love it so much. Sorry to say that we are now getting too old for all the hassle at airports etc. but Madeira still calls us back Happy New Year Liccon

Lovely photographs and very informative review. We are staying at the Melia Mare in January for a week and we're pleased that the food is so good as we have booked on a half board basis. We intend to eat out a couple of nights and most lunchtimes. Will certainly buy a two day pass as it seems good value. This will be out first visit to Madeira and I'm trying my best not to start packing!!

Glad you had a good trip. We were just across the road from you in The Residence Porto Mare. Weather was fantastic that week. Hate to say it but the Saturday and Sunday were actually the best days (Sunday in particular was absolutely glorious). Cant believe just over a week ago we were lounging by the outdoor pool and as I type this yet more snow continues to fall on Glasgow . Merry Christmas to all the regulars on the Funchal forum !!

I am taking my Wife for her 50th Birthday in February and staying at the Eden Mare, It is a surprise so am hoping for good weather and will take your tip of visiting the village you mentioned and also getting the two day pass.
