Thread: Fuel Processor

Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by boulevard06
Im looking to buy a Cobra Fi2000r, but would like to ask if anyone can tell me the true benefits, I run stock debaffled, and d-mickeyed pipes ,and was wondering if I would gain performace and power. And if so, would I be able to feel and see it. I know this may sound dumb , but have read online that Cobra Fi2000r and some other brands are a waste of money for our bike. Of course I wanted to ...

You're probably going to end up apologizing for the threat, because they're more or less right... It is a waste of money for this bike.... Any changes you make to the bike (such as gutting your exhaust or adding a high flow air filter) will actually HURT your bikes performance. The purpose of the fuel processor is to correct the lean running condition that you created by monkeying with ...

I installed a Cobra FI2000, HK pipes and a Thunder Air kit at the same time. I could tell a significant "seat of the pants" improvment in torque. The bike just plain pulled harder. A dyno run would have been very interesting, but dyno's are not readily available around here. I also noticed I visited gas stations more often, 38mpg was about my average. I currently run a Cobra on my bobber...

THe 'butt dyno' is probably the most subjective and least accurate measurement you can use. You expect there to be a gain, so inevitably, you feel a gain. When measured on the dyno, the results are an increase of 2-3 hp and 3-5 ft lbs of torque. It does NOT produce 'big bike' performance, but it does help. Especially on acceleration...

Ok, I love my bike and tell people its a 800. If I wanted bigger id ride a Busza, hate the cookie cutter chopers all around here. Anyway Skrapiron you are saying Id get better perfomance going back to stock exhaust? But looks like ill be saving $200.00 bucks, more replys would be nice. I always heard that Suzuki set them too lean, Any reply on that?

Yes. Returning to the stock exhaust will restore some of your lost performance. The open exhaust creates a drop in back pressure, which in turn reduces the low end torque produced by the engine. Since Torque=Acceleration, it's no wonder you're experiencing lackluster performance. ANY modifications to the exhaust OR the intake WILL require re-mapping the fuel delivery to compensate for ...

2-3 hp gain on 48hp engine is significant. To realize the full potential of a processor that adds fuel, it should be installed with an airbox that breaths easier than the stock one.

+1 After a lot of money and messing around with Cobra pipes, K&N filter and a fuel processor, I got my plugs to burn real nice & the bike sounds nice, but did I feel a "seat of the pants" difference, Not So Much. _________________ 2005 C50 with too many mods to list http://photobucket.com/vanorvisc50

I run my completely stock 08C50T around the speed limit, well most of the time, and I complained when my milage dropped from 51 to 49 in the cooler weather. I would be p----- off if I spent the money for a processor, exhaust, etc and only got 2 more HP and high 30's for milage. _________________ Dana Proud PGR Member Standing for Those Who Stood for US Ride Safe and Proud

I have an '05 C50, I have done a few mods to her. I have Hard Krome American Classics, a Dobeck DFO, and I have 'naked jugs'. I removed the oem airbox and installed a unix foam filter. I got the DFO dialed in as best I could and then took it to a local shop and had them put it on the dyno to dial it the rest of the way in. After everythig was said and done, I gained 8 ponies and as far as my fuel mileage, I have gained 5...
