Thread: French Door Window Treatments

We removed an exterior kitchen wall and installed an out-swing french door next to two other floor-to-ceiling windows. This new wall of windows is right in front of our eat-in area which gives us tons of great natural light, but also a view of our neighbor's nearby house and driveway. The windows and doors have wood grids and I like the idea of plantation shutters - but are they competing with ...

Is it possible to do some landscaping for privacy in that area? A hedge or vines will help block the views both ways. I've used gathered sheer panels on French doors for privacy. Not a complete block but it makes it more difficult for people outside to see in yet still possible to see out.

Here's an example of shutters on a window with grids. I pulled it off some web site; it's not my house.

Someone here did plantations shutters on French doors, but I can't remember if there were grids. I have 1" traditional shutters in the office on divided windows.

luckygal - I agree that a hedge is a great idea and have been looking at the garden forum for ideas on quick growing varieties. I would also like to hardscape between the properties but that option isn't in the budget right now. suero and natal - thanks so much for the pictures! luckygal - I agree that a hedge is a great idea and have been looking at the garden forum for ideas on quick growing varieties.
