If it is machine readable you should be ok I believe BUT dont just take my word for it - why dont you speak with the US Embassy?

BrooklynBrdge replied 1 month, 2 weeks ago
It's fine, but if you're concerned you should call the embassy to ask them.

Don't worry your passport is valid for it's full validity period. Mine is the same! Clare

Just to add what others have said, your passport is fine as you said it is machine readable. My passport is same as yours but a year younger and there was no problem. Now that you have completed your ESTA, you are ready to go.

I think your passport needs to be the chipped type. We changed ours to chipped type. They add the years left to run on your old passport onto your new passport. Hope you get sorted

Your passport will be fine. I travelled to New York , three times-the last being in August 2009 and my passport was issued in 2000 ( it's due for renewal in March 2010) As long as your passport is machine readable, which it will be if it was issued in 2005, you'll be fine. Happy holidays...

It does NOT need to have a chip. I am not a US citizen and I travel with a non-chip, machine readable passport and there have been no problems. Enjoy your trip!
