This is exactly what ive been looking for. My chain is cranked on so tight I would need to grind it off.

hmm i will not be useing these.. i can see too much risk of rim damage if you hit inbetween the join spot.

I've used a fair few of them back in the days before i got into trials. They didnt feel any different as the ends overlap a little so there is no "gap". They sure are a lifesaver when you're on a long ride and carry a shifter on you.

Can anyone tell me what the little yellowey coloured tube is for that comes in puncture repair kits?

It's for this type of valve: More precisely for the inserts: Totally outdated, but still part of every repair kit.
