Thread: Flights from Lima to Cusco, Peru

Started 2 months, 2 weeks ago by traveler3344
I am trying to book a round trip flight from Lima to Cusco on LAN airlines using the Peruvian site. Everyone on this site says to book it this way as it is much cheaper. However, it is giving me a warning that says: "The Economic Base Rate Cabin national route is valid only for residents in Peru . If not proving residency in Peru, LAN may deny boarding or implement an ...

I just bought tickets this way the other day. You cannot purchase the Base fares, but the next row over on the screen - Base Plus - is what I was told is allowable. Yes, these are about twice the Base fare, but much cheaper than purchasing on the USA Lan site.

LAN started adding the $178.50 extra non-resident charge in September 2009 they are being investigated for ripping people off by Peru Tourism Board Book www.taca.com www.starperu.com LIM CUZ LOTS cheaper.

We flew TACA airline from Lima to Cusco round trip. When I was booking around xmas time, I found their prices to be cheaper than LAN. TACA is a great airline. Maybe you can check them out. I had a fantastic experience with them.

I also flew Taca from Lima to Cusco and back. I found their plane to be much, much nicer than the American Airlines planes that took me from Washington, DC to Lima.

Im after the same flights LIMA to CUSCO return. Travelling in Sept 2010 and its coming up at $369. is that a bit steep or can you get it cheaper??

redhead47 replied 2 months, 1 week ago
Which airline are you looking at? TACA shows this trip, ecomony fare, for $145 including taxes & fees, RT,pp.. LAN ( Peru version) show a "Base Plus" fare for $261.80 with taxes & fees. This is the lowest fare class a non-Peruvian can book on LAN. Next higher, lowest fare showing on other country versions of lan.com: "Flexible" fare for $476. StarPeru shows the economy ...

No hidden charges on Taca. Once you book the flight you will be charged the fare plus the applicable tax. The only other cost would be the airport tax which you pay every time you depart from an airport ( US$ 6 for local, $30 for International) The bus is an alternative, but its a long haul, 9 to 10 hours.

No trains from Lima to Cusco . When you get there & see the topography, the "lay of the land," you will understand why. Practically impossible to build train tracks (& tunnels & bridges) over all those steep mountains. The landscape is really unlike anything I've seen before. Flying is your best bet to get to Cusco. For the same reason, train or trekking the Inca Trail is the only way into Aguas...

"9 to 10 hours" -- that would be nice! Lima to Cusco takes between 21 and 23 hours.
