Thread: Flickr: Discussing Screw hole repair in Sailboats and sailing

Thanks for all the help on my last post. As I am starting the restoration, I would like to start with filling in all of the screwholes thorughout the boat. Any recommendations on the correct product to use for this?

Google on West System.. It's an epoxy company. They talk about it., have books etc.

sikaflex is really good. its a good idea to use on every fitting.

make the edge of the holes rough with a medium grit sandpaper Use a 2 part epoxy resine (as used with glass fibre) Mix with microfibers to produce a this paste. Make sure it is not runny. Fill the holes wih the pase leaving it proud of the deck so that it can be sanded back later. When dry , sand back & then finish with a small gel coat. Paint this on with a small brush. ...
