Manually pre-focusing means you move forward or backward until your subject is focused then use the autofocus to fine-tune the focus. Im using it too with 50mm 1.8 prime. the beauty of Kenko ext. tubes is that you can still adjust the aperture of the lens since it has connectors. :)
