I think if they are going to host something like this they should host it just for Jamaica or the Caribbean because I saw some good pictures like the kayakers at the edge of a massive waterfall shots like those I don't think can be reproduced in Jamaica, International photographers will tend to have an edge with things like these due to the seasons that they go through and just the ...
I really don’t like when people say things like that. To me that's discrediting our photographers and undermining their talent. Like nothing from yard cyah betta that the foreign one. We may not be able to get snowboarding or some other sports but we can find a lot of action packed sports to shoot. Like the shots Greg had from that surfing competition could easily be submitted....

Andrew, I think Seta means from the 'extreme sporting' activities eg like we dont do alot of those crazy activities people up north do (and rightly so I might add)
No boss nothing like that in no way or form am I insinuating that Jamaican photographers cannot produce on the level of International Photographers if not better I was just stating that they have so much more material to work with versus us due to the mass of their country like for example a shot Evil Kanevil (or how ever his name is spelt) jumping one of the smaller trenches of the...
Yeah I know "Cool Runnings" but Bobsledding is mostly momentum than anything else if you have good timing thats an up or if you took the "Cool Runnings" approach and used Track Atheletes to give your Bobsled that extra boost at the starting that should be to ones benefit also. If you live in Jamaica you are NOT International....Ridiculous...It's merely that some people (Jamaicans included) are more...

..read the sarcasm When you elude to "International" it sounded like just because you live in Jamaica you would not be considered "International"...or because other photog's live elsewhere in the world, they ARE International...
LOL @ Antilles and Setanubi, yeah international is relative, totally agree with GIO. I think you guys should take a trip to Billy Mystic's place in Bull Bay, he offered me a look through the photo archive of Jamaican surfing photos and trust me they are just as dramatic as the best you have seen from anywhere else in the world (i just saw some have to go back). Maybe we could arrange a group visit (CC u come in here lol). Also...with the...
Make a date and lets go to Jamnesia ! Since its just out at Bull Bay, thats easy to mobilise and go one afternoon for an afternoon shoot and watch the sunset Billy is one of those people who will ask you why are you taking his picture and will you be using it commercially etc
Great images, lots of thought involved. As long as you have the interest in the sport you'll get the shots maybe even better. Getting clearance to shoot these images is another matter... security, personal safety, mounting your camera here, there, everywhere, etc.. But being involved in these new sports is hard if you arent satisfied with the situation (money, personal satisfaction, etc..). Anyway... good stuff
I generally agree with what's been said above about creative vision. Most shots can be replicated somewhere else, with a little creativity. Those that can't can serve as inspiration. I was at Mayfield Falls a little while back, and the guys doing flips into the stream from ~40 ft up in the trees was pretty extreme. (poor example: www.flickr.com/photos/abeand/4017776773/ ) Like one of the photogs from Greg's link wrote,...
