So tomorrow I have a choice of paying $40 to get my Slot-1 fixed or doing it myself. I don't feel inclined to get it repaired at the shop because I feel I'm overpaying for something so minor.
The problem with my Slot-1 is that 3 of those yellow prongs are bent out of place. This happened when I accidentally forced in a DS cartridge causing those prongs to be bent crooked when they are suppose ...

This is what I would personally do, the part can't be more than $7.00. Just need some soldering skills and steady hands. Alternatively, you could make an attempt with some small tweezers to bend the few metal bands into a position where they connect.. you could try ...

Yep, that's how I fix mine temporarily. You can also buy a Nintendo screwdriver off the net for around $3 or $5 and clean the sensor in the bumper, or move around the little cloth inside.
You might be able to fix the prongs with a dental scraper or sculpting tool. You can usually buy them at pharmacies or hobby shops.
Dont bother buying a nintendo screwdriver unless you're confident in your repairing abilities.
