Looking at a reloading set up. Its used and the guy said its a first gen LnL press. I dont know a ton about them, but I've read good things about the LNL and Dillon in general. Wants $425 for all of this. The dies are LEE Carbide. Im mainly concerned if the press is a good one?? HORNADY LNL AP PRESS 44 mag dies 357 mag dies 45ACP dies lee scale RCBS bullet puller RCBS powder trickler
Haggle him down a bit... You can also call Hornady and ask them what upgrades are available for that press. the die sets are about 20$ each lee scale is 15$ or so no idea on the powder trickler is the rcbs bullet puller a collet type or impact type? I think both would be about 15$ used. so figure you have a little bit over 100$ in accessories. Is that press worth 300$? I'd probably say no ...
Thanks, I knew he was a little high. Especially with the bullet promo(and I have +200 in Cabela's gift cards, so it could be really cheap for me). The 44mag dies wont do me any good, and I dont shoot .357mag currently, so those arent of particular value to me right now anyways. Good idea on calling Hornandy.. I may try that.
Seams a little high. The LNL can be converted to the 2nd gen by replacing the base. Hornady has a kit for this around $30. The shell plates are $10 to have them modified for the new base. The 2nd gen re-engineered the shell ejector. The 1st gen used a wire to push the round out of the holder. The 2nd gen uses a base that walks the sell out of the holder. The only issues was with short small ...
I think that price is way too high for a used press. 1000 jacketed hollow point Hornady 45 acp bullets are worth $200 +/- Psych is right on with the accessories at $100+. I think that set up is worth: + $400 (new) - $200 (bullets) + $100 (accessories) - $100 (used depreciation) = $200... which is sad for such a good press. I have the first gen press (last one on the shelf right before Xmas...
The new LNL is superior to the old one, but you can convert the old to the new ejector plate. I think the new shell plates will fit the old machines, but the old plates will not fit the new ones. Regardless a new LNL WITH 1000 bullets is only $369 and 1000 .45cal bullets are almost $300. Offer him $250 for the whole deal as his press is actually worth around $100.
Since you mentioned you have Cabelas gift cards...Right now they have a 30$ off 150$ promotion until 11/17 http://information.cabelas.com...eg=SH1&cnt=5149&c tb= I don't believe it's stackable with Free Shipping but it is stackable with gift cards.
For what it's worth, I just picked up a new one at MidSouth Shooter supply for $368. A check is going in the mail today for $21.95 and I hope to have 1k XTPs in hand. I wanted to go back to Dillon but I couldn't pass this up.
