i5 should be out right about now.

+Glorious replied 3 months, 2 weeks ago
I'd say the C2Q if you're only keeping for a year or two - otherwise i7. I plan on upgrading my C2D to C2Q Q9650 soon.

I haven't bought 5.1 speakers before, and am concerned with my "L" shaped desk that I won't have a good place to put the back-left speaker. I can place the fronts and back-right on the desk. How long are the wires that come with them? My desk is probably about 7' wide, 7' back on the right side.

Quote - (Kristan K @ Aug 31 2009, 05:28) I'd go with a set of Logitech Z-2300's for sure, I'd still use mine if I hadn't moved into a small apartment where the bass pounds through the walls. Hows that a bad thing?!

carmatic replied 3 months, 2 weeks ago
dont they say that the z-2300 has somewhat excessive bass? i had a set, and i had the subwoofer knob constantly at its minimum.... maybe i just didnt have good acoustics in the place i used it... imho the 5.1 sets only make sense if you have a whole room to use it with, kind of like a mini-home theater setup, maybe with your computer as a media center or something... i'd imagine that ...

If your going to be gaming and video editing don't you want at least 4GB of ram? If you got 4GB of DDR2 you can go with the Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD3P which will work with AM3 CPU's. You could get the RAM elsewhere:...

RAM memory
Published (2009-12-08 00:16:00)
memory prices doubled right before the release of Windows 7 they used to make these things called "SIMM stackers" back in the 90s that let you use 4 modules in place of one, for people who were looking to upgrade on a budget. nobody produces such a device for newer memory though. you are out of luck on that. you running a 64-bit OS? if not, just get a 2x2GB kit and wait till you upgrade to a newer machine/motherboard for...

Quote - (TiZakit @ Dec 15 2009, 02:27) PSU could also be culprit... do you have a cheap PSU rated at 600w? or a good name brand one, rated at 600w... Quote - (Japata @ Dec 14 2009, 09:03) I doubt it, I got 600w Thermaltake power supply... any other ideas?

If it's a ISP issued device, I'd suggest contacting them to find out what the problem is.

What should I do?

Well if you can get a comparable desktop for half the price then I'd get that plus a smaller/portable laptop (not a netbook though).

It sounds like a heat or lack of power issue. Try using OCCT to stress test the PSU and GPU, it will graph everything for you so you should be able to see at a glance what (if anything) is wrong.

Is this Dock and Hard Drive...
Published (2009-12-14 03:35:00)
I see. It might have more SATA slots, but there isn't not physical room in the case for another drive. Still, as I said earlier, I'd recommend you buy a SATA controller like I linked to with eSATA ports or get a SATA to eSATA bracket and cable (if you can confirm you actually have a spare SATA slot in your machine). Make sure your external enclosure supports eSATA so that you can actually get a nice speed out of your drive... Best...
