I'd bet on your daughters sleepwalking. I have literally woken up standing in the hallway outside my room... after walking across my bedroom floor littered with disassembled electronics, cars, and Jeeps without stepping on anything. I had to turn the light on to get back across the room without hurting my feet. Still don't know how I pulled that off.

What I really want to know is where were all these cute Playboy bunny type school teachers when I was in school? I swear, every teacher I had was in their late nineties!! It just isn't fair!

Well it depends how the recovery disks work (I am assuming the recovery disk you are talking about is the one that came with the laptop).. Are you saying that they cannot see the recovery partition after you installed a new hard drive? Or do you still have the original HDD in the system? If you have already installed the new hard drive, then it is completely understandable that a recovery disk wont work. The new hard drive you just purchased...

eh. my mom is a firm believer that my sis is still hanging around. she passed away when my baby was still just barely learning to crawl, but sometimes when i hear her in the other room laughing and having a good old time i go in to see whats up and she tells me shes playing with Auntie. i just write it off as an imaginary friend type of thing but who knows.
