Just curous. I heard Cornell is currently using d canadian&mexican budget for internationals. Thats good news i gues. So how does dat affect me, an international student who is applying?..is it just an minute increment or its a verous enormous budget..+is cornell need blind in offering admission?
Data is here: http://dpb.cornell.edu/documents/1000003.pdf http://dpb.cornell.edu/documents/1000176.pdf http://dpb.cornell.edu/documents/1000177.pdf
However I agree that your personal chances at either school are highly dependent on fit.
my biggest problem is that i didn't take biology at all.
This is my HS curriculum offered at my school (Canadian)
Grade 9: Science
Grade 10: Science
Grade 11: Bio, Chem, Physics
Grade 12: Bio, Chem Physics
I didn't take grade 11 bio, which is a prerequisite for grade 12 bio. But i took everything else. I'm thinking of 2 options right now. 1. Self-study AP Bio 2. Take grade 11 bio online...
if u do decide to take AP bio, I suggest CLiffnote and princeton review. Cliffnote is really specific, but it's boring. that's how i found it. Princeton is simple and is good as a review/ quick study b4 the AP bio test.
This is a chance thread, no matter how you spin it. You are not asking if Cornell or Brown would be a better fit for you, you are asking which one you would have a better chance of getting in. As such, this is probably not a good forum for you to ask this question. I would imagine there are probably not that many students who applied to both Cornell and Brown. My daughter did not apply to ...
^^Yeah, I was a bit surprised too by what they said. Still, of the 39,000 applications they receive, I'm sure most aren't siblings, plus I bet they first see if they may be interested in accepting you, and that eliminates a few more siblings. Still, I think there is some advantage to being a sibling. Also, if your family is more tied to the school, it is more likely you will donate to the school ...
the only thing about sibley, especially during the day, is the noise from the ongoing construction (YAY MILSTEIN!) that you will have to deal with. at night, it should be fine.
civomorth, i think it would be more beneficial for you to have a parent or teacher read and critique your essay instead of students on this board. you will get better feedback that way
i will. it's just that school is almost starting and i really have no time during the school year, so i'm just frantically trying to get my essays done. But, thanks CUAmbassador11 for the advice and everyone else who offered to help.
We won't ever know - the best thing we can do now is move on with our lives and find another school we fit into. If you still care enough about Cornell next year, you can always apply as a transfer.
Feral, based on your posts tonight, you are clearly both a gentleman AND a scholar. I'm sure our paths will cross sometime in the process of the two of us winning the game.
Thanks bioblade. I also made copies from last years ED 2013 thread for myself, so I can confirm that these are correct. Thought that I was the only person that would do this kind of thing... lols. few more days...
hahahaha for me its Syracuse/RISD for first choice, then cooper union(also for fin. reasons. but seeing as I got rejected from cornell for gpa, i doubt i'll make cooper), then USC, CMU, and Cal Poly SLO. USC would be up there, but I don't really like the whole atmosphere of the school... hahahah if the recent mugging of a student in Pratt is off-putting, you're gonna LOVE usc. Compton, anyone? but uhh... hahaha RISD I'm not...
It's probably best to look over your application to see if there are any weak spots and try not to make the same mistakes for RD in other schools? Like if you had a risky essay or your essay didn't show enough passion or you emphasized your weaknesses or something lol
I applied ED to Cornell CAS and was rejected. =( Can i maybe exchange my why cornell essay with the people who got accepted? I feel really bad right now and i want to know why i was just flat out rejected.
I never interviewed for Cornell, but I had other college interviews at Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, a casual cafe...I wore business casual to all of them just to be safe and it was totally fine. Unless your interviewer specifically tells you to be casual, it's better to be overdressed than underdressed.
