A1Fiddler, yeah I wasnt actually the first to look at it. I was actually maybe the 6th or 8th person and made the decision on the spot after taking it for a small test drive and a walkthrough to buy it. Not one of the best decisions in my life but ...

Nice project.
My guess is that the cold start/rough idle/ dying is all related.
Change the cap/rotor/adjust plugs/doublecheck wire firing order and check for vacuum leaks. The idle kickdown is probably adjustable and if it's controlled off the manifold, the spring or assembly may be bad. Other things to look for would be a lean setting on the carb itself. Have a mechanic adjust the idle ...
Merry Christmas, have fun with it
...a few ideas that come to mind
#1 - timing, intake leak, choke, lifters (if hydraulic)
#2 - ticking noise relative to engine rpm. Often times you will see the soot on the head if it's leaking at the flange.
#3 - backfire from the exhaust is caused by combustion while the exhaust valve is open, it's common with timing too retarded, burnt...
OK i guess what im gonna have to do is spend the $100 and get it over for a diag? maybe that would pinpoint any real problems..
I Planned on in the next few days/weeks get everything checked. Gonna take the Alt/Starter/Battery over and get those checked, Tranny is gonna get checked and than also gonna get the brakes and shocks and stuff checked, all for free of course, that way I can get a ...
1,3,6,7) Buy a carb rebuild kit (an expensive name-brand one, like Carter or Holley), and read all the instructions a few times. Then decide if you want to DIY, or pay a pro, or buy a reman carb (which is PROBABLY already adjusted correctly) & return the kit. I don't recommend any aftermarket carb, but I HIGHLY recommend a complete stock EFI engine swap (the newest, lowest-mileage one you ...

I have the same year and model Bronco and pretty much similar things. The trans problem mine does that the first shift in when its cold. The cold start, I just moved to a cold environment and it is drives me crazy that it takes about 20 minutes just to get it running right. The steering mine looks the same and has been that way for about 2 years now. I am sure you should replace and others will ...
well the carbs are looking to be around $300-$500 for decent carbs, which right now is not an option, right now ill find out if it helps after its timed and idled and misc tune up parts are done.

Hey - Just curious... how much do you have in this truck to this point? If that's not my business, no prob... Also wondering if your drivetrain will be able to handle 500hp?
