Can you tell by my name LOL. I am a bit partial to Seattle Slew lines. To bad Slewpy died when he did, he was a bargin and a California staple. Thisnearlywasmine by Capote (Seattle Slew) is interesting. We will see how he does, he needs more mares bred to him before we can really tell. I like Bertrando and In Excess, but am weary of crooked legs and soundness. Unusual Heat...

One of my current favorites is Michael's Flyer. If he ever got a full book of mares he would come up with several good horses. My sleeper stud that nobody has ever heard of is King Excess. I breezed one of my horses the other day with a King Excess and he can run.

Slewpy, thanks for mentioning my stallion, Thisnearlywasmine. I love the Slew line also, which is one reason which prompted me to purchase Thisnearlywasmine. So far he's gotten 17 winners from 19 starters! This year thus far, he has 7 winners from 10 starters and 123,000 (it would have been 134K but Jeopardize this got disqualified over the weekend) and is 2nd in the state (thru 02 Jul 06...

An older thread I know, but my favorite California stallion is hands down Bertrando. I loved him as a racehorse and I love him as a sire. Many years ago, he broke the side mirror off my Explorer when I parked too close to his paddock. Next on the California list are Event of the Year and Decarchy. I don't understand why Event of the Year hasn't done better as a sire, but I am partial ...

I like EOTY as well. I think Golden Eagle was expecting him to throw precocious foals w/Mr. P. on the bottom, Slew's speed, the fact that he won as a two year old, and was on the derby trail. He was bred to a lot of good mares and is still very upside down (AEI 1.22 vs CI 2.40) & only 1% stakes winners - 4% stakes placed. He's definitely a two turn sire and needs mares who can inject ...
