Thread: Fantastic Mr. Fox

I got to see this last night. I really enjoyed it. The animation is very unique, and if you like Wes Anderson movies, you won't be disappointed. Definitely one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen this year.

Is it just me or did they not advertise this movie. I watch most stuff of the PC or DVR so I might have missed them. Anyways the movie looks really good Edit- this movie is getting outstanding reviews also

The guy that wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factory wrote this book.

I've seen the trailer a few times, and when I close my eyes, it sounds like a good movie with some funny lines. When my eyes are open, though, the animation looks absolutely atrocious and distracting . Unsure if I could handle their animation for the full running length. Does the quality of the stop motion animation stay consistent with what is on the trailers?

It's supposed to look like the old stop motion movies like Pinchecliffe Grand Prix and the old Rankin/Bass stop motion stuff. So Wes forbid the crew from using more modern computer aided techniques to smooth out the animation like Coraline. I grew up with this stuff and loved them as a kid so the movie looks great to me.

The animation through the movie is in my opinion really really great. You can tell they didn't use any high-tech tricks, but it doesn't get old either as they do emply different tricks throughout the movie, in fact the kind of animation adds on a lot of humor in the movie. Also, it won't take more than 1 minute for you to realize that though animated, it's got Wes Anderson's style all over ...

I really want to see this. Just for the hell of it, here is the trailer.

This is exactly The Royal Tenenbaums, animated, and given the cover of a children's movie. Bizzarely, the slightly off-kilter logic of Anderson-world works better in a "children's" genre, where logic isn't supposed to reign. One of my favorite movies of the year, and highly recommended if you're a Wes Anderson fan.

Great movie. I'm a big Anderson fan and the movie doesn't disappoint. I loved the look, it gave the movie charm. All the voices were perfect. My 3 year old niece enjoyed it too and she usually isn't easily entertained.

That looks amazing. I must've been living in a cave for awhile or something, because that's the first I heard of that movie. Will definitely see it ASAP.
