Alps Mountaineering or Kelty have some of the best for the money. You should be able to find a 6 person from either company for under $200. I bought a real nice Alps 6 man from REI for $140, on sale. You should also look on www.sierratradingpost.com

Depending on how much you want to spend, Cabelas make the Alaskan Outfitter Series tent that is awesome. I have the 8 man version and there was plenty of room for 6 of us (4 adults and 2 kids plus a lab and gear. Best of all cup holders built in for everyone!

I own REI, Kelty, Eureka and SwissGear. Out of all of those the Eureka is the biggest waste of money. The REI is purpose specific (ie. backpacking, as is the Kelty) and for the money I like it better than the Kelty. I have two SwissGear tents, one is for remote location truck camping 6 man (four comfortably with gear) and then I also own a 8 man (6 very comfortably) for wide open space truck ...

I have 2 large tents...Kelty (5yrs old) and SwissGear (3 yrs)... Nether are real expensive..... Regardless of the brand name you purchase, make sure you seal all the seams with tent seam sealer, and spray entire tent with a really good coat of waterproofing silicone sealer.....Allow adequate drying time (all day).....

I have used Coleman's standard design for 40 years, Colorado to Georgia. Hard to beat unless you have to backpack it. What MagHunter recommended makes the difference between satisfaction and misery. wa

Eureka makes a great tent I own two and have been camping out of Eureka brand tents for almost 30 years.

Maybe you just got a bad Eureka tent, but I have an Apex Eureka tent and all I have to say about that tent is that it is incredible!!! It has more features then tents twice its price and is also lighter then most tents twice its price. The Eureka brand tents are some of the best!

When I was grounded and slept in tents (thank God I don't have to sleep on the ground anymore) I used Eurekas exclusively and never had a problem.

Coleman or Eureka can't go wrong or cabelas. Remember this if they say 6 man its crowded camping for six adults. I personally use backpacking tents because my wife doesn't tent camp, but I love to camp. I sleep good in a tent. I bought my son a coleman with a screen room and it is fine for himself his wife and two small children. Won't be long before they outgrow it. That same tent can be bought as a full tent without the screen...

Wal-Mart has a VERY nice tent for $140. I bought one, and I love it. It's a 3 room 22'x12'. very nice, very roomy. The only thing is that you have to put seam sealer on the seams of it, but you really should do that with any tent you buy if you want to take proper care of it. I believe mine is an Ozark Trail.
