Thread: Falling apart

Started 1 month ago by ~SL~
The more I try to hold it together, the worse it gets. I need a girlfriend or my Mom or a day to spend under the covers hiding. None of those things are being supportive right now. I need to hear, and be heard and believe that I am doing the right thing. A SIL found out about my surgery this past Saturday and her response was "GOOOOOOOOOOD luck, it sucks to ...

~SL~ Wow can I empathize, I had a friend call me up 2 days after my cancer dx to tell me how many surgeries she had and out of all of them the hyster was the worse, I almost hung up on her! So yeah people don't get it. Anyway, if you need to hide under the covers for a bit go do it. Sometimes that is what it takes. Also talk to your Dr. maybe they can...

We may not be there to hide under the covers with you but we are there in spirit. You have a wonderful network of women who are or have been where you are right now. It is scary, very scary and we can't always find the support we need out there in the "real world." Notice that she told you she has "heard" the pain is beyond belief. Obviously, she hasn't gone ...

Hey, SL, everybody is different, so I can't predict how things will be for you. However, I want to tell you, for me, this was not nearly as bad as I anticipated. (I had a TAH/BSO). I don't know what your procedure or situation is, but this has been mine. My nurses and docs were attentive and kept my pain as minimal as possible. It was not a walk in the park, no, but ...

I am so sorry, I understand beyond words. I had surgery yesterday, and even on Sunday during my bowel prep, I kept saying I can't do it. But, when I woke up yesterday morning, and I felt so peaceful and ready. I made my husband and son breakfast. I took a nice long shower, straightened my hair. I returned some phone calls. We left early enough to stop by the bank....

I was so scared before my surgery I didn't have a lot of emotional symptoms but the physical ones were terrible. I had the worst acid reflux and crabby wow I was a total b*tch. I feel SOOO much better now that it's over. Sure it hurts, but it's a pain that will go away and after that it's gone for good, it's not coming back each month or twice a month forever. I...

Dear SL Anyone having surgery for any reason can cause some anxiety. I did a lot of research on my own, stay away from too many negatives, but educate yourself. My surgery was so much easier then I anticipated, I had daVinci Robotic, had a complete hysterectomy due to a cancer diagnoses. I am doing great almost 4 weeks post op, but it is so different for each ...

Hi ~SL~, I know how you must be feeling. I was so scared that I just wanted to run and hide. I even tryed ignoring the thought of surgery... didn't work! At my pre-op I told my family doc how I was so freaked out and she gave me something to calm my nerves. Then after surgery, I felt like a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders! I could finnally stop...

I put up my nativity set today. I love the Willow Tree stuff, so I thought it would be nice to have out while I recover. My pre-op stuff is today. Going to ask the doc for help. Got my list of questions ready too. Trying to keep busy. I spilled it all to my poor DH again last night.. I'll be okay. I know I have friends here who won't let me fall apart. Thank...

I actually found that talking to people about it helped me get through the whole process. My DH knows a whole lot more about woman things now then he ever did before, but he was so willing to listen and talk to me about it. He asked questions and I tried to tell him everything. I had a wonderful supports system, many had gone before me in this journey. I hope your find the support you need hear, don't feel like you can't ask...

It is normal to feel anxiety before surgery, the nurse will give you something to relax. Try not to worry too much. I had the adbonimal procedure, so not sure how long of stay with the daVinci procedure. My stay at the hospital was two days, the nurses were great, if you feel you should stay longer, express that need to your doctor maybe he or she will be able to assist you. On the day after my procedure, I was up and walking around after...

gbell, I am also having a laparoscopic hyst.--a daVinci procedue. I was told that I would be in the hospital no longer than 23 hours! That almost scares me more than the idea of the surgery.
