Thread: FPS drops in all games, still not resolved.

Started 1 month ago by sean_computerxp
Hi, i've reported to this forum before about this problem and there seems to be no logical explanation or fix to this problem. HERE is an example : http://www.xfire.com/video/a357e/ - skip to 1minute 20 seconds, you'll see the frame rate drop from a stable video recording frame rate of 12 to just 1 FPS. I have virtually tried everything to fix this problem. I have installed ...

Hello, I am wanting to delete the partition simply because I do not use Arcade Deluxe and I need to have less partitions in order to dual boot Vista and Windows 7. I have a 5920G also. Is that partition only used for Arcade Deluxe? What the hell is the point in it anyway? Will it void the warranty (It was bought in december 2008). Also what about the other partition with the restores, ...

Greetings to all. New guy here. Hoping anyone can help me out on this one. I am putting together a pc for my son. But it wont post or boot at all. It's not even giving a beeping sound to at least tell me something. Here's the bare spec: Asrock 775v88 board CPU - LGA775 for Intel® Pentium 4/Celeron processor - FSB 800/533 MHz - Support advanced Intel® EM64T CPU...

do you not have a spare higher wattage psu you can borrow from another machine?

unclejunebug replied 3 months, 1 week ago
greetings mechaneil, When you try and turn on the computer are you getting any activity at all like fans spinning, lights coming on, etc... or is there no response whatsoever? I agree with TheCheekMaster that you'll need a higher wattage psu. With that hardware you should be fine with a 350 - 400 watt psu. But if you're not getting anything at all I would double check your psu to mobo ...

Ok, now I really think the CMOS battery is either low or dead. Now the computer can barely keep track of time. It keeps getting messed up, and I know its not a virus or malware or spyware. I have ran so many anti-virus/anti-spyware/anti-malware etc. programs on this laptop, there is no way any virus, etc. could exist. Can you please tell me where to find the CMOS battery? Thanks!

For some reason it works if I start the burn program before I insert the disk, but not the other way around.

Hi Lee, It suggests that either your graphics (video) card or your monitor is faulty. One option would be to swap the graphic card with a known working one (see your friend and borrow theirs). If that doesn't make a difference, try a different monitor (see friend again). If your Advent is a laptop, check if it's still under warranty and return it to the shop. Best of luck.

For some strange reason.. My CPU is pegged at 100 Percent all the time. When you open the Task manager and check to see which process is taking up all the usage, nothing is there, everything is at 0. It's a clean install of windows. It's windows XP, no extra installed programs, no startup programs, nothing.. Installed linux and limux ran fine, processor wasnt pegged.

Hi Out There I have installed the same 250 GB drive on two machines consecutively and in both cases start up has been slowed down significantly. Both machines run XP SP3 and on the current installation device manager reports both drives as healthy C: Drive 0 FAT 32 and E: Drive 1 NTFS. Could file scanning be the cause or have I not set them up correctly? Shortly I shall be upgrading both...

formatting flash drive

If you have an XP CD, you can insert the USB drive, then boot to the CD and go as far into setup to where Windows reads the available partitions. Select the USB drive and have Windows Quick Format it with NTFS. Bit chancy though. I can't quite recall for sure, but maybe EASEUS Partition Master will do the formatting for you.

Netbooks
Published (2009-12-11 18:02:00)
Hey Jililan, The greatest misconception people have about netbooks is that they are like notebooks but smaller. First, They are not expandable. You can't add any devices unless they plug in via USB. Also, you can't add any RAM, but there are a few exceptions. They do have an ethernet port so you can have a physical connection and do have integrated wireless cards. As far as adding software, you're really limited. Since you...

No hdcp support???
Published (2009-12-11 15:14:00)
HDCP is a copy protection scheme designed to prevent interception of digital content between the player blue ray/Hd dvd for example, and the display device. If the tv isn't HDCP compliant you wont be able to play video from blue ray players, satallite boxes etc. (at least the newer models) What is HDCP

Imminent HD failure?

Did you monitor the earlier chkdsk, and see if it was correcting file issues and bad clusters? May want to run it anew and check again. Two big problems with getting bad clusters on the drive is when the damage includes non-salvageable Windows files, and so corrupts the operating system, and when there are so many damaged areas there is no place to move large file data groups to. You can borrow an XP disk, and use the COA sticker key from the...

Please tell me the brand and model of your motherboard, also, which model celeron cpu do you have? And lastly, what is the make and speed of your new RAM? If you are unsure, try using: SIW -System Information for Windows http://www.gtopala.com/ It will give you a detailed spec of your machine.

I dont think the ACHI message is related to the lockup's. If you don't have a RAID enabled in the bios, or a RAID array configured, that message is normal on several Dell models.

Power supply connector
Published (2009-11-28 21:46:00)
Hello I recently acquired a laptop power supply that looks like it would be fine for my Toshiba Satellite P10-304 (ie it's huge). It looks like it was sold as a 'universal' product, as it has a male connector like this (approx 10mm wide): which I assume to have originally been used in conjunction with an array of adaptors (concentric plug on one end, 'female' of the above on the other end)for a variety of laptops. Does...
