Thread: FORCED FREE POSTAGE IS WRONG !!!!!!!

Started 3 months, 3 weeks ago by model-man1
This may have already been posted so apologies if i'm repeating others. To me the only one's to benefit from the free p & p ruling will be eBay and Paypal as higher selling prices mean higher FVF and PayPal fees. In addition sellers will not only have to include the postage charge in the selling price but extra for the additional FVF and paypal fees. How this can be a benefit to buyers is ...

#1323 you have said what you can see loads have already said, but its good, maybe ebay or their little "helpers" will take note before it is too late. So the more people complain the better. And if buyers cannot get bargains they will go elsewhere like E??? Keep plugging E??? to your buyers, friends etc the more than know about it the better

I saw one poster who asked "My question is - do they pass that discount on to the sellers who purchase the PayPal postage label? or is that also a stealth tax?" The answer is yes and no. For RoyalMail options you pay exactly on eBay what the PostOffice would charge. However for ParcelForce 24/48 there is a bargain to be had. Any weight up to 30 kg eBay will charge £10.99 for PF 48 and £11.99 ...

tntdisco - with the greatest respect, you may have missed the point. What exactly is the nature of the contract between Royal Mail and Paypal/Ebay? If a modest business seller like myself can access savings of 40% from Royal Mail, it figures that huge concerns like Amazon get even greater discounts. So if you pay Royal Mail through Paypal, does that mean that Paypal also receive huge discounts...

I TOTALLY AGREE. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO EBAY AND GOT THE SAME REPLY AS YOU SEEM TO HAVE GOT. WHAT CAN WE DO TO CHANGE THIS RIDICULOUS NEW IDEA. IS THERE ANYWHERE ELSE ONLINE THAT PEOPLE CAN SELL THEIR UNWANTED ITEMS AND GET A DECENT PRICE AND GET THE POSTAGE PAID?

musicfinley777 replied 3 months, 3 weeks ago
Wow! first personal reply from eBay. Don't know if it's of any help to anyone Thank you for writing to eBay powerSeller Support once again regarding offering free postage on your vinyl records. Mary, I'll try to provide you every possible workaround I can in order to absorb this shipping cost. I've reviewed your account and noticed that most of your records are listed with the starting ...

Free p&p for a single CD or DVD is OK, but a boxed set is a different kettle of fish. We should be allowed to charge a fair p&p.

snuggy198 replied 3 months, 3 weeks ago
#1328 Once again then, telling us to up our starting price so it is not FREE P&P to buyers is it - more money for ebay... Farcical.

junkerking replied 3 months, 3 weeks ago
snuggy what you should do is protest by stop using ebay and encourage others to do just that if that many people are that unhappy then a mass boycott of ebay is the way to go of course you would need a substantial amount of people to stop using the site include a fair number of the big sellers

tntdisco replied 3 months, 3 weeks ago
rabethell - I thought the point was the eBay/Paypal are not passing on the savings they get from RoyalMail in being an agent for them. True they don't pass on any savings for normal RoyalMail postage but they pass on vast savings for ParcelForce postage. I questioned them once about why 2nd class postage is not allowed and they said it was because their license with RoyalMail didn't allow it. I...

tntdisco replied 3 months, 3 weeks ago
Of course if eBay wants to liken themselves to Amazon and offer Free P&P then they should allow us to download and print RoyalMail postage labels for free and they can absorb the cost Nick TNT Disco

'Ebay surely are losing out as well from the small seller' Less sellers = less choice = less buyers. yup, an all round lose, lose situation less sellers = less choice = increased sale prices of course only time will be a real test of what will happen long term, short term is just guess work

Ebay is in terminal decline unless they get rid of their current management team who have simply lost the plot. Ebay will never be able to turn itself into Amazon style online retailer which is the current management strategy. Amazon is simply too good at what it does to have any worries about ebay. What they fail to realise is that the world has moved on since ebay started in the UK and online buyers are now much more savvy about how...

great offers 2008: "But a seller who lists what they want for a item IS being honest just because they are charging more than the cover price does not make them any more dishonest than you" No, that's complete rubbish. There are indeed sellers of new books on Ebay who charge MORE than cover price - these sellers are dishonest, they are rip-off merchants, no more no less. These sellers base their trade on making fools of buyers -...

oldie but you already add your P&P fees into your starting price - do your buyers know this? Do you tell them that you are going to "send the item out for free BUT you are paying for it in the long run as I add my loss to the starting price"!? - I bet you don't. Isn't that wrong? And at the end of the day it was not fee avoidance as ebay say I can do that - at least I was not falsely advertising FREE P&P was I -...

#805 But the theory is that someone would buy it and then enter into an arrangement with the seller to post it. If any suggestion that the buyer could do this was on the listing surely that would be soliciting an off-Ebay sale, ie. the postage, to avoid fees.

Where have they said that? From ebay PR eBay Priorities eBay are focusing on the three top reasons why buyers stop buying on eBay 1. Losing money on eBay 2. Getting a negative feedback 3. High postage and packaging charges Postage and packing charges will be next target area for eBay in order to meet buyer objectives .

Cottage-garden. #2035 Highlight the words you want to emphasise then click on the Bold button ( B ) next to the Smiley. It may be better to use italics, same as bold, but the I button. Readers, who use screen readers due to poor eyesight, have difficulty reading bold type. You beat me to it. - But you put it so clearly...... I would hae rambled on and on, never actually getting to the point!

IMHO I think free postage is here to stay as the 19th looms closer it is ether gonna be a case of put up or shut up. Can anyone remember a time when Greedbay has gone back on an anoucment on the uk site??? The thing that really p*sses me off is the fact that everything on this site is run so badly now. About a year ago i started to use gooogle base to get more visibility to my store now ebay had everything set for this even a bit of software...
