Thread: FA Big Man?

With our injury problems to Gasol and Bynum, the Lakers are thin up front. Do they need to consider signing a big man to a 10-day contract for depth? If so, are there any big man free agents who can play decent minutes?

10 day contracts can't be signed until I believe January. I'm pretty sure the injuries will be healed by then.

Yeah, even if that rule wasn't in place I don't think they'd sign anyone now anyway. If there were yet another long term injury, I'd consider Mark Blount. I believe he is still a free agent, and there isn't much else as far as being worth a guaranteed contract. If they get into January and get into a similar situation, you don't have much to pick from. Elson or (ugh) Ely or even try to rush ...

We won't be without Gasol and/or Bynum for very much longer. Maybe a couple games at most. Mbenga and Powell are sufficient enough to hold down the fort in the meantime.
