Thread: Engine/trans mounts?

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by ZX3tuning
i'm curious as to what engine and trans mounts you guys are using in your ~400+rwhp STREET cars. Car in question is a 88 930 cab. i have felt solid mounts and other cars and not really looking for those but need to replace the stock rubber mounts with something a lot stiffer yet still has some dampening to them. I'm aware Wevo makes the SS engine mounts and the DIY/Exchange trans ...

I'm using the stock mounts, as I've hear that the solid mounts will knock your fillings out. With a stiff suspension, I didn't even think about the WEVO's due to vibration. It would just be too much. That's all I got for you... What year and body style? 87 coupe What Engine and how much power? 3.3 and 400 RWHP What mounts are you running? Stock How do you like them? +1

Thanks for the replies guys... but seriously, nobody else on here has tired different mounts before? is everyone still running on the stock 20+ year old mounts or is everyone running solid mounts now?

Sport mounts here for engine and trans. Nice compromise and really no problem at all for streetability.

I have the wevo mounts and they are just fine. I cant compare to stock mounts since i never had them on this car. I did the swap on my carrera before the ex made off with it and there was a little more engine noise, not any noticeable vibration and it shifted much better. So when I built the turbo i didnt even bother putting the stock mounts in. My turbo is a targa, 3.4 liter with ssc cams ...

The reason I ask is I seem to be getting lots of drivetrain windup on hard acceleration and it makes shifting a little sketchy. The stock mounts seemed fine on inspection but I'm thinking they are worn/blown out on the inside and it's causing my issues. i've never heard of the "sport mounts" are these a factor replacement/upgrade or what? right now i'm thinking the Wevo's are the way to go, ...

There really aren't any different mounts to try. The only things offered are: - Sport mounts for engine .. which are fine. - Wevo for engine mounts .. which are fine - Wevo conversion for trans.....
