This festival is a week away. I don't want to miss any 'must-see' performers. Of course I have my own list (Alabama 3, Seasick Steve, Imelda May, Florence & the Machine, Eco & the Bunnymen, Whitest Boy Alive, and, of course, Uncle Bill) but please have a look at the line up and let me know if you think I'll regret missing a particular performer. And don't say 'ABC', or I'll shoot a poisoned ...
This looks like a great festival! Personally, I'd give Echo & the Bunnymen a miss. I was a HUGE fan as a teenager, but when I saw the reformed line-up a couple of years ago, I was deeply, deeply disappointed. They sucked something awful. Some bands that break up should just stay that way. Anyway, topping my list of must-sees (aside from Billy and The Whitest Boy Alive) would be Neko Case, by ...
this is a great festival. i think its probably the best festival i've been to (and i've done a few in the last 5 years) well organised, well programmed and full of lovely irish people.

Well, in that case I think we all need to know are there any tickets left? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif )
The festival is an Over-18 event and Photo ID must be presented on arrival if age is in question. However: Children aged 12 and under are permitted free of charge, no ticket required. (13-17 year olds are not permitted even accompanied with an adult.) 13 to 17 year olds who have previously been going with their parents must be gutted! Do the parents still go and leave the inbetweens behind...
Explosions in the sky - well I like bands that sound like Godspeed YBE sen em live - think they come from Texas Temper Trap - some mates have been pitching them at me, sound a bit like Doves crossed with Interpol Flaming Lips - go on!
QUOTE(Jon D @ Aug 30 2009, 05:26 PM) Flaming Lips - go on! True. I'm only so-so about their music, but they do put on quite a spectacle of a live show.
QUOTE(matt w @ Sep 12 2009, 09:39 AM) Glad you enjoyed it, one of the gigs I remember best of Billy's was seeing him at a festival in Thurles many years ago. It was the first time I'd ever seen him with a band, and kirsty joined in as well. Wow, wish I'd been there. QUOTE(Roo @ Sep 12 2009, 12:16 AM) Hooray! So who else did you see? Thanks for asking, Roo, I saw Thomas & his...
What Martyn said. And when I saw them earlier this year, they were also very, very funny and seemed like they were having at least as much fun as the audience. We were all enchanted. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif )

QUOTE(Roo @ Sep 12 2009, 05:45 PM) You are. I bet you could ear the eye-rolling your first response caused all the way over there. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif ) That typo is so good that maybe it wasn't (a typo, I mean)!
Am I too late to chime in? Well, at least Geoff's got me covered on the most important vote. Okkervil River are not to be missed. Fantastic live show. If you plan on giving them a listen to decide, I recommend youtube videos over their recordings, simply because the two are quite different. In case I'm not too late, my other recommendations in roughly descending order: The Low Anthem - gorgeous, indie-folk music Jeffrey Lewis Neko...
QUOTE(Paddy the dog @ Sep 11 2009, 11:52 PM) The big news from the Picnic is that Billy has shaved off his beard (IMG: style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif ) Sorry, no pics, long story. What an electric performance from the Bard. And what a delight to see him at a standy-uppy gig. What made my enjoyment so intense was seeing Billy smile so much! And I'm not joking (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif ) He was...
