Thread: Electric Kenmore Dryer not heating

The first thing I would do is check for 240 VAC at the wall outlet. The heating element needs 240 volts while the motor will run with 120 volts. If there is nothing wrong then perform the troubleshooting, using the instructions from one of our previous posts: dryer willnotheat & timer wont turn off Post the results of the troubleshooting. Gene.

my guess is thermal fuse or high heat fuse, check for continuity to tell which.

I will check continuity on both (thermal fuse and high heat fuse) and will post my findings. Thanks!!!

Hi, the Thermal fuse read 0.7, high limit thermostat read 0.7, heating element 10.1, there was no reading in the thermal cutoff and no reading on two of the fourcontacts in the cycling thermostat. Does this mean that the thermal cutoff and cycling thermostat are NO GOOD?

Replaced the thermal cutoff and high heat fuse (came together in a kit). It works now. Thank you all for your help.
