Started 1 month, 4 weeks ago by dale187
Well it's time for a clutch now something more meetier than the stock one. For a while i have alwys used a stock clutch. Well after my front mount and tranny install i went back to the track and was amazed the power the front mount made me and that it was just too much for stock clutches anymore.. I launched at 5250 and the clutched slipped all the way through 3rd and i ran a 13.50. So i'm ...

I've heard lots of bad things about using puck discs with springs. A couple guys on here who're putting down good HP swear by the xtd stage 4, which comes with an unsprung disc. As far as the stage 1 and 2 I've read mostly bad reviews on them.

dale187 replied 1 month, 4 weeks ago
I might just go with that.. the unsprung is that a puck disk too?

Personally I loved my Exedy stage 1 clutch kit (2100lbs). Held up just fine to around 350whp and never really slipped on me and I put over 35000 miles of abuse on it. If my goals weren't for much higher I'd throw another one of those in my car in a heart beat!

I'm using this XTD stage 4 clutch. XTD® STAGE 4 CLUTCH KIT -ECLIPSE /TALON /LASER TURBO:eBay Motors (item 350270110118 end time Nov-24-09 19:36:07 PST) I have no complaints after 1500 miles of street use. The throw out bearing was steel sleeved so I just threw it away & used an OEM one. It chattered in stop & go L.A. traffic when it was new, but not so much after break- in. So far it's ...

I run this clutch. I've got 4k daily driven miles on it and it's held 25psi out of an evoIII and no problems so far. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/F1-RA...Q5fAccessor ies

Maybe the PP isn't as harsh idk? Anyway next clutch change I do I'll be dropping an xtd stage 4 in.

So i guess i'm going with the XTD stage 4 unsprung. Has anyone heard about hte F1 racing stage 4 unsprung? Only reason i ask is because there is an ebay company that sells them and they actually have a 1 800 number that you can call and talk to a representative. I did and he had a lot of knowledge and alot to say. The only downfall is its not XTD its F1 racing which i have never heard of

Do it right the first time Because in my galant, the xtd stage 4 held better and lasted longer than the spec, and act it replaced. This is on a large turbo, with full supporting mods.

My unsprung puck disk felt great actually and hardly chattered at all when slipping the clutch too much.

Do yourself a favor and get a sprung disc if you plan on driving on the street at all.
