Thread: Early Risers

Started 1 month ago by cmshucks
Misery loves company. I'm so tired. It used to be between 5 am and 6. now with the time change it is before 5 am. I've read so many books, did an earlier bedtime, later bed time, no light, night light, white noise, socks, no socks. you name it, nothing works. He is just an early riser, I guess. any of you awake with me? any thing work for you?

We put him to bed at around 7 pm but sometimes he plays in his crib for over an hour. he naps from about 11:30 -1:30. he will not sleep in our bed, that is too big and a prime place to practice gymnastics. he has never slept in our bed. we can't let him play in his crib until we are ready he bangs his head against the side of the bed if we leave him. he has me trained that way but what can...

Have any of you tried putting them down later for naps and waking them after 2 hours?  My DS slowly pushed his nap time back from 12:30 to 1 or 1:30 and will sleep until 4 or 5 depending on how busy he was that morning.  Then he has bath between 7 and 7:30 and is in his bed (yes bed, not crib) by 8pm.  He might not fall asleep right away but he doesn't get out of bed either.  Oh, and we close ...

i would second the suggestion of a later nap. we battled with early wakings several mos ago. i was sooo frustrated.  my suggestion would be to aim for a 1230 nap (or even 1). i don't know about waking him--i've never been one for waking a child unless necessary--but you'll figure it out. for us, DS was waking up screaming for me. i reopened Ferber's book (we ferberized when LO was 6 mos) ...

Sleeping in in this house is 7 AM.  It blows, add to it my son only sleeps about 8-9 hours a night on a good night so I don't get much down time from him

my ds schedule is roughly- rise at 730/8, nap 1-3, bed 9/930. if we went somewhere extra the day before he sometimes sleeps till 830! it's perfect for my work schedule and allows an hour or two at night for me and dh to be alone.      if we put him to bed at 7 or 8 (many of our friends kids go to bed at this time) he'd be up WAY too early for us. good luck!

my LO goes to bed around 730-8 and is up at 530-6am. if i have to take her out to babysitters shes up at 530, so shes used to getting up, so unfortunately we cant make her sleep in any later!

We put DD down for the night between 9-10pm just so that she doesn't get up early, she gets up around 8am most mornings, sometimes 9am if she's real tired. She naps from 12-3pm. My DS who is 10mo, is pretty much on the same schedule as DD. He goes to bed about 10mins before her at night and about an hour before her at nap time. And then wakes up the same time as her in in the morning and from ...

DS is up with the sun.  We got some blackout drapes which did seem to help some especially in the summer when we had to put him down before dark.  He goes down about 8:30 or 9:00pm and wakes about 7:00am.  Naptime is usually 1:30 and he sleeps anywhere from 1-2 hours.  We did have a rough week of early mornings right after the time change.  I have to get him up a 7:00am on work days so he's just...

Noah goes down around 7:30 and gets up at aboug 6:30 am regardless...we can even put him down at 8 pm and he will still get up at 6:30 am.  Micah our youngest (12 months) goes down around 7:15 and gets up at 6 am.  They both nap from 1-2:30 or 3:00 pm.  I also nap while they nap! Melinda
