Thread: Dv6 (Turion 64 x2) and Win 7 HP 64-bit - Operating systems and software - HP Support Forum

Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by jrozsnaki
Greetings!   I have a Dv6646us with the AMD Turion 64 x2 Mobile TL-58 1.9GHZ MPU; 4GB DRAM machine and recently installed Win 7 32-bit Home Premium.  I am contemplating installing the 64 bit version, since the drivers for the 32 & 64 bit Vista OS are the same.    My question is has anyone successfully upgraded their original 32 bit OS to a 64 bit OS (any dv6 series w Turion TL-58 ...

I have a DV6910us. I upgraded from Vista 32bit to Win7 64bit. The provided Win7 driver library got the majority of my drivers. The few that it didn't were found by the helpful people here.   I do see a moderate performance increase using a 64bit operating system. If the install wasn't so easy, I wouldn't recommend it. But my install was nearly flawless, and worth the time.
