Hi,
I’m going to be moving to Dubai at the start of 2010 and have been doing some research into where to live. I’ll be working in Sharjah so obviously it’d be preferable to stay on the ‘Sharjah’ to keep commuting times down. I’ve decided against living in Sharjah itself. I'm looking for a 1 or 2 b/room apartment, with a max budget of circa AED 90-100k, but I'd like to come in under this (...
Mirdif is more expat orientated, Mamzar area is mainly locals and the Asian workforce, it would be more of an experience though I have to say. Wait til you get here and then take a good look around.

If you lived in Dubai you will be going opposite the traffic, which works to your advantage.
If you genuinely wanted to save money live in Sharjah or even better, Ajman. New and cheap flats.

Thanks guys. I'm coming out on a permanent contract so see this a long term move, rather than a couple of years of trying to save as much cash as possible. As such finding a 'community' to settle into is going to be important.
