stupid article. Doesn't mention that the battery can be swapped unlike some other popular smart phones. Also this phone multi-tasks so if you leave all your apps open in the background of course your battery will die much faster.
"Doesn't mention that the battery can be swapped unlike some other popular smart phones." So, where would a man keep a spare battery on his person? In a pocket where loose change or keys could come in contact with the battery terminals causing a short? Swappable batteries are a kludge for devices with poor battery life.
Maybe I'm missing something here, but this paragraph seems very contradictory to the point of the article: "One site did a review specifically on the battery life of the Droid. For the study, the Droid screen brightness was maxed out, the screen was set to 'Never Sleep', MP3's were loaded and the media player was turned on to 'Repeat All Songs'. They even threw in an hour of Google Navigation ...
Why is the Droid being singled out as being bad? In general, smart phones have horrible battery life. And yes for some it may take new charging habits, but anyone who is fairly familiar with cell phones knows better than to expect to go several days on a charge. At least you can swap the battery in the Droid if it runs dead...I know I've been 3 days with mine now...and going 12+ hours with HEAVY...
I got an idea. Carry a spare battery with you or charge on the go (e.g. car or work). I live in Asia and the smartphones here are battery hogs. Everyone simply carries a spare battery or most places like restaurants, bars, gyms, etc have phone chargers for you to use for a while.
easy way to save your battery on most devices bluetooth=OFF (unless in use) wifi=OFF (unless in use) gps=OFF (unless in use) and never use brightness at 100%
Live I've said in other comments, comparing the Droid to the iPhone (or any phone) is like comparing green apples to red apples. Most people have a preference because they get taste N out of the red apple and taste M from the green apple. You get different functions out of each phone, and both phones have downsides and upsides. It's silly to just ridicule the other.
I work as a research assistant collecting data in local elementary schools. Text messages with the rest of the team and friends are not disruptive in classrooms, whereas calls are, which is why I generally wait till I'm driving to another school to call anyone.
Yep Settings > About Phone > Battery Use It breaks down all the things that have contributed to at least 1% of the current drain of the battery. Quite a nice feature in my opinion EDIT - It looks like this - http://tinyurl.com/ykxt22u But with a few more things on the list in my case like WiFi, Cell Standby etc
I can go about two days with just general phone only usage on my iphone. I have no problem with that. I can go about 15 hours with my iphone using it how I USE IT... I charge it every night. No big deal for me, though I'd love to be able to have a spare battery. I bring a 12vdc/usb charger with me everywhere that case I can charge up when needed, but a spare battery would be nice. Saying all that, all of these newer smart phones are...
Or, perhaps you should think of it in terms of overall device longevity. You *don't* have to send to Droid back to manufacturer if your battery charge starts decreasing after a while. Or if you have any sort of battery problems at all. Swappable batteries are a *good* thing. Don't just tout Apple's way of doing things, please.
Yeah, Monkey...I am sure that is hte case. All those people are unable to get calls but perfectly fine to get texts? (If they are working, then they should get neither. Unless it is business related in which case, go back to my point about CALLING them. and Ellimus...don't ***** text while driving ou stupid prick. I don;'t care if you are this important "research assistant" (sad that you called that your JOB, by the...
