Thanks for all the tips and information. We decided last week to begin looking. We went to the Balt County rescue shelter yesterday and found a few dogs we really liked. Put in an application and we are waiting to hear back.
We have a concern that maybe we got a little too caught up in the cute puppies without thinking really hard about the time commitment they require. Our 3 choices in ...

That's weird about the lack of HW info - though Dr. Jendrek failed to mention to me during a half hour consult with my dog [who had dime sized lump of oozing mass on her chin] that instead of expensive & dangerous surgery, I could use a daily dose of anti-histamine pill to shrink it and take away it's source of energy to grow.
