Thread: Does anyone else think this is better than The Dark Knight?

Sorry if this topic has been posted before, but I'm just interested.
The reason I'm comparing these two films is because they are both essentially superhero movies, and while TDK has been almost universally acknowledged as the best superhero movie of all time, Watchmen hasn't been receiving much notice.
I love TDK, I really do, but it's been overhyped in my opinion. It is a good movie but ...
In a word: Yes.
(A bit more wordy: I like Begins better than TDK , since that is more like the Batman I love.)
Quidquid Latinae dictum sit, altum viditur.
To even put this *beep* film in the same topic as the great dark knight is an insult. Doing so should = death...
The strength of a fighter lies not in his muscles but rather in his heart and soul.
The Dark Knight's plot is absolutely fantastic, it has to be said. However, the direction is sloppy in places (the employment of shakeycam and tight close-ups during intense action scenes are the decisions of amateurs) and the dialogue could've also done with a little polish (Gordon's final speech, as mentioned, and Batman's "This city... ready to believe in good!" In a film that has spent 2 1/2 ...
If you see TDK once or twice, you've seen it all. You get something new out of Watchmen every time you see it. TDK is good. Watchmen is better.

FYC Best Supporting Actor: Jackie Earle Haley - Watchmen
speaking of seeing something new every time, I was watching it tonight and noticed for the first time the large, erect stone penis in the Comedian's apartment in the opening scene.
Now, how'd I miss that?

Fluffis got it in one! Despite my previous ramblings, I couldn't have put it better myself. Nolan nails suspense and drama, but Snyder truly understands the mechanics of an action sequence.
"Mr nolan if you're reading this go back and make the next one more like a super hero movie like iron man and hulk, keep it simple and grounded for the everyday man to enjoy ok. your target audience is the average joe, not havard phd's." of course why produce good stories when you can settle for average? ________________________ Doubting Thomas of the Avatar Board
I have to say that I much prefer TDK to Watchmen. For me, TDK had characters that grew throughout the movie. They made choices, that although stayed in character, you would not have conceived of the characters making these choices at the beginning of the movie. For instance, if you did not know the history of Harvey Dent from the comics, I do not think you would have foreseen his transformation into Two Face. It was, imo, done in a way that...
TDK was an amazing movie but not so much for the character development as for the character of the Joker who took over the movie. The Two Face segment was so short I felt that character was totally wasted. He was taken from a major tragic supporting character to a throw-away person. Batman was weak in the whole movie. But overall the movie did work and was totally unexpected for a Batman movie. It could have been better so that it didn't...
I disagree. The sequence where Joker breaks out of jail, blows up Rachel, and has Bruce questioning everything is as good as it gets. Watchmen never came close to that, not even when entire cities were blown up. You never really cared about anyone in Watchmen, except maybe Rorschack.
Because,at FIRST viewing, you were mature, thoughtful, enlightened, and intelligent. Mature,Thoughtful,Enlightened, and Intelligent individuals are incapable of noticing an exposed penis; blue,'large, erect',or what-have-you.Unfortunately,your experience is a prime example of desensitization. If you are not careful, you may find yourself counting the amount of time a penis actually appears on-screen! Does that mean I became a puerile,...
As has already been echoed by most everyone else. Dark... As has already been echoed by most everyone else. Dark Knight did deliver well. We didn't get the Watchman trailer as a preview though.
