Thread: Does anybody remember the Chevrolet Monza?

Does anybody remember the Chevrolet Monza? If so what did you think of those cars? I personally find them to be very underappreciated vehicles that are really hard to find
Yup, a friend of mine had one years ago, he liked it. He got it cheap and it had decent power.
But he had to go thru hell to replace at least one of the spark plugs near the firewall. Typical GM BS where they did not engineer it to be user friendly.
But, being based on the Vega, that was no surprise.

The Corvair had lots of promise. The plan was supposed to be using a Olds quad 4 mounted ...

Well, since we are speaking of the later Monza, I will add. I think these were made from 1975-1980 and were pretty good cars and were better than the Vega... drivetrain and all. They were also more luxurious and more comfortable. Other GM lines offered this body style as well (Buick Skyhawk, Pontiac Sunbird and Oldsmobile Starfire). Yes I remember the Monzas. What comes to mind is some Farrah Fawcett hair do chick with knee high socks, short shorts and REO Speedwagons "Keep On Loving You" in the background....as they all fit in with the times.
A friend of mine's dad had a 1979 Sunbird coupe a few years back. He managed to shatter the driver side door glass by shutting the door.

I have never understood all the hate for the Mustang II. My '76 fastback with a 302V8 and automatic was one of the best cars I ever owned. I bought it new, special order from the factory and kept it for 10 years and over 100,000 miles, no small feat for cars of that era. It was built like a rock, fast and fun to drive and beautiful as well. It was also one of Ford's more successful projects, at least for the 1st few years.
Mustang without even option of V8, it indeeds sound weird. However the fastbacks and Cobra IIs especially are worth looking at. I got a Cobra II back in like March. For now it is just kind of a potential project if I can come up with a good 351 or 302 for it. The guy that owned it was setting it up with a 4cyl motor and trans out of a 90 Mustang, but I don't even want to mess with finishing that.
