My wife and I went to get our car serviced today and were pressured by a salesman to purchase a product called Mileage Maxx Mileage Booster. He told us that it would clean out our engine and increase our gas mileage by quite a bit. It wasn't too expensive, so if it actually works, it would be worth the purchase. Can anyone tell me if they have actually used this product?

I didn't check Mike's link, but I bet I know what it says.
Ask the salesman to produce independent (i.e., not done by the manufacturer or others with a vested interest), scientific studies, preferably published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal, that support his claim. I bet he can't.

Well if you go over to their website, the testimonies are bogus. No real data to support their claims. Other products of this sort have all been proven to be bogus. To me, if you are a logical person, 1 + 1 = 2. In this case,1(no data, bogus testimonies) + 1(other products of this type have been busted) = 2, this product can/should be ... "snake oil" /crap.
