Thread: Does Anyone Have Any Idea on How to Setup a Cell Phone Drive?
Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by greenjen80
Hey guys, I'm thinking of doing a cell phone drive for my niece's school. I came up with the idea, but I'm not quite sure how to go about it since they're a few things that I have to first address. The first thing is that I think I may need a partner for the program, since we can't recycle or repurpose the phones ourselves. I've never really done this before. Anyone got any ideas?...
I know their is a company that does ink cartridges as well as cell phones.
Try any of these companies and see which have prices quoted and probably check the BBB on which are legit:

You could just contact a local phones for troops program and partner with them.
a local crisis center or domestic violence sheler is also a good option as they are always looking for used cell phones to give out for 911 purposes.
You could just set up the drive and...
Trying looking for a used cell phone broker in your area who can do all the work. There are typically organizations like Phones4Charity and The American Cell Phone Drive who usually work with charities operating out of police stations and hospitals. You could try asking your local charities what partner they use for their cell phone drives or even ask a retailer. Though, retailer's ...
I know in my area the local police help out and recycle the phones for families of domestic violence. I have a feeling when you look into it you will be surprised to find a lot of organizations out there that can help you with the program.
I believe the OP was hoping that the school would benefit financially from it, perhaps for better art supplies or a new playground. I could be wrong though

If that is the case the police department or shelters would not be an option.
Phones4Charity does sound like a good idea. I did some research and found that the CEO, Steve Hopwood, was interviewed a few times in humanitarian articles.

You get with a company that will purchase older cell phones from you. You ask those in your organization / community ...

It really all depends...
Well, the time the school had to sell something in an official capacity, we had to wait months before the paper work came through. And since this is more of a trial run, I think it would be okay if we partnered up with a buyback program like Phones 4 Charity. Hell, we're really just piggybacking on another recycling program we are doing with cans and bottles. Only, we adding electronics with cell phones being a priority since they are...

Use them now, learn what you can, and then try to use that information yourself to sell the phones later now. Right you probably don't have the resources to do it yourselves.
