Do you mean because they are Brats or because they are skanky-looking stick-figures? Anyway aren't they soooo ten years ago?

✿veronica replied 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Absolutely not. Those dolls look like hookers.

As much as I loved the Brat dolls and Barbies I don't think they set a good example. . they basically say to children "this is the perfect girl . . stick thin and underdressed"

No, most of clothing marketed for little girls isn't appropriate for little girls either. I recently started potty training my daughter, they had bikini style underpants in her size....... she is not yet 2 years old

If I were head of marketing for BRATS DOLLS I would accessorize them with crack pipes and hyperdemics and STD testing kits in what could only be described as financial suicide.

I don't like the ridiculous dolls either, but they sure do sell a lot, it should be up to the parents to chose what their child can have, don't try to ban things, all that does is limit the business owner even further, and they're already limited too much. Take some responsibility and be a good parent, then these dolls wouldn't exist. I thought we lived in a free country?

They are fucking dolls. Don't like them, don't buy them. My daughter loved them. She doesn't walk around looking like a hooker just because she played with a doll. Barbie has had some questionable clothes for years. Amazing what good parenting can teach a child about whats right and whats wrong in the REAL WORLD...not play land.

Just to point out, no one in this thread has said to ban them so I'm not sure who your comment was aimed at Hand guy. IMO no, they aren't appropriate for children and I won't be buying them.

Aderleth23: Thee Hand!: I was actually talking about things like the PATRIOT Act, Randy Weaver, David Koresh, and Dawn Welsh, just a vague pissed off rant of mine and how Americans seem to be blind to our freedoms being taken away for false security. But that's been my point all along, if no one wanted the dolls, the manufacturer would not make them, so obviously people want them, and although it's sick, it shouldn't be wrong....

Aderleth23: Nobody's talking about banning the dolls (or at least I'm not, and I don't think the guy you're responding to is either). No one is, yet he keeps insisting we are.

That's about right. Although, really, who doesn't want to masturbate to drawings of horse testicles? Awkward silence. You know you've got a thing for horse testicles. But I can't draw! That's like...

Aderleth23: I'm all for slender, pretty, and well dressed (which, depending on the context, sometimes means slutty outfits), but these are traits best developed by adult women with well established senses of self worth, and lots of confidence. Shoving such body image issues down the throats of impressionable little girls is probably a really bad idea. I think you're right. There is a reason why we have Age of Consent laws all around...

Thee Hand!: call me cassandra: I think this ignores the whole marketing aspect--the age-specific targeting that goes on constantly--on television, in schools, fast food, school supplise such as pens, pencils, binders, clothing, music. These things are no longer just a toy. It's a package. Television, movies, concerts, cds, dvds. It's very difficult to avoid not just the Bratz, but Hannah Montana, High School Musical, all of these...

Thee Hand!: The One who is greatly underestimated: Thee Hand!: call me cassandra: Thee Hand!: Oh, I'm well informed. Here's the thing, no one is forcing you to buy the dolls. It's the business owner's decision, they want to sell the dolls, so they should be able to. Obviously these dolls are profiting, or they would not sell them. Here's what it comes down to... If I buy a business, I should hold the right to do...
