Thread: Do you need an ignition key for an MOT?

Started 3 years, 4 months ago by Threeracers
Do you need an ignition key for an MOT? On my race car I cut the steering lock and key barrel off so ignition is now on a toggle switch with a push start. I have no security features other than a FIA battery master – is that a problem?

I believe that you need two methods of immobilising the car, normally these would be the ignition switch and steering lock, or an immobiliser might do just as well. I doubt a battery cut-out switch would qualify. If the button hass a key as well that would probably count as one The SVA manual mentions it somewhere.(page 54) If you don't have a version, there's an old one here http://www....
