At one point in the commentary Ben Stiller says that females really love this movie more than guys do, and that he was surprised by this.
I'm a 30-ish female and I didn't think I would like this movie at all, but I found myself laughing hysterically the whole way through. It is now one of my fave films of all time.
The thing is, I can't quite put my finger on exactly WHY I love it. Are ...
I'm a woman in my 40s and thought it was hilarious too. Not sure I can shed light on why either. But I found it very clever and its willingess to "cross the line" and skewer about every group you can think of, to be very refreshing. And Robert Downey Jr made the movie for me.

I am a woman in my late 20's and this is one of my favorite movies. It is funny and clever, and like the previous posters, I don't really know why. But most women I know who have seen it really like it.
You don't have the magic in you.-GOB (Arrested Development)
Just a theory: Perhaps women like this film because it shows men showing and admitting their weaknesses?
The one character who never shows any vulnerability until he's at the breaking point is Lazarus, and he goes to genuinely insane lenths to do so.
I'm a woman in my 40s and I absolutely loved this movie. I think its hysterical and now one of my favorite movies. Its about boys being boys what's not funny about that. Women aren't even in this movie, no chance to portray us as bubbleheads, bitches, love deprived or the district attorney. I think Tom Cruise dancing with the sweat stains in his armpits is too funny, the full retard speech ...
21 and female here, and I couldn't agree more with you. I love this movie so effin much.
"Did I know that I had just met the most dangerous dark wizard of all time? No."
I'm a 16 year old girl and hate this sort of humour, and this prevented me from enjoying first time through. Having watched it again it was hilarious and I noticed jokes and lines that I missed first time through =]
I'm 25 and my mother is in her forties and we both loved it probs more than our other halves who do not have a sense of humour as crazy as ours. We loved Hot Fuzz too (whixh was in many parts a spoof on action films) and both of these films have similar humour; action, men being boys and real, rather than all ultra mucho that makes you want to gag.
Us women probs appreciate the fact that this ...
I'm a teenage girl and originally I felt bad for loving this movie... I felt like it was supposed to be a total guy's film, and I wasn't allowed in the club.
I just love it because it's stupid and funny, and it doesn't have to make perfect sense. I also have a weakness for fart jokes, innuendo, and everything vulgar. I prefer movies like Tropic Thunder to chick flicks everytime, all the time.

Indeed it is. Just picture a Monty Python flick doing the exact same thing as this movie. Well actually this is probably like the the Americanized version of a Monty Python flick. Fiery the angels fell. Deep thunder rolled around their shores... burning with the fires of Orc.
So *beep* what? We have women over there doing the job anyway, don't denigrate what they are doing, just because it isn't official policy, bitch. If you hate Jesus Christ and are 100% proud of it, copy this and make it your signature!
I don't believe in a difference in 'guys' types of movies and 'girls' types of movies. My question is, why is it that people think that this is a guys movie? My 50 something year old dad watched John Tucker Must Die and loved it! He thought it was funny. My can't girls watch Star Wars? WHy can't guys watch Titanic? I love both, I'm a girl. And on top of that I LOVE TROPIC THUNDER!

I'm a woman in my 40s and I loved this movie! It was funny, creative and original. It wasn't afraid to poke fun at hollywood and cultural stereotypes. Wonderful performances all around, especially Robert Downey Jr. as dude disguised as a dude playing another dude! Hilarious!
