What is your opinion on what make/model is the best all around shotgun. Right now I'm looking at a Beretta Xtrema2, just want to make sure I'm heading in the right direction.

I have had absolutely no problems with my mossberg 500s. They have been swimming with me, fell out of tree stands and off of 3-wheelers. Just take a stick and get the mud out of the barrel, don't worry it'll still shoot.
The 870 is a great gun if a pump action is your thing,But the 1187 is my go to for anything favorite. With a 26" barrel and a variety of choke tubes and a fully rifled 23" slug barrel it's suitable for anything from sparrows to bears and probably one of the last things a ner do well wants to see pointed at them.
