Thread: Dismissed for gross misconduct - being offered another job

I'll try to cut a long story short: I was dismissed from my last job recently for 'gross misconduct'. Obviously, this knocked me sideways, and I have only recently been of the state of mind to start re-applying for jobs. I had an interview last week, which I felt went well, and sure enough I was contacted the following day and offered the position, but 'subject to satisfactory references'...

thanks for your reply. Obviously I don't want to put too much information on a public message board, so I'll send you a private message with the answers to your questions in it. Re. your advice about speaking to them about the job offer and the next steps - I think that's good advice, and it's what my head is telling me to do. I think I will ring her on Monday morning.

I was leaving due to maternity, 2nd child, and ended up walking out. 6 months later applied for a new job, they phoned my old boss for a reference who said "her work went down after she had the kids but i think she could do the job". He omitted to say my whilst pregnant my 26 yr old brother died of cancer!! I asked to reduce hours and he refused so I decided to have another baby and leave. 2...
