just purchased the HP309a the other day. Really love the output but looks like i have to return. The printer has ZERO flexibility with configuring it for wireless connectivity.  you MUST USE WEP Key index #1 to connect.  It doesn't allow you to tailor the settings to match your existing network.  Where I am, I have almost10 wireless networks running where I live.  I use/need a separate ...

Try this...   If the printer is already connected to the network, then browse to its Embedded web page by browsing to the printer IP address in a browser. No click on Network on the top, and run the Wireless Setup Wizard from this page. I remember being able to change the Key index here.

OK. Then temporarily connect the printer to your router using an ethernet cable. Now you should be able to access the printers page, and run the wireless setup wizard. To find out the IP address of the printer, press Setup>Network Settings>View Network Settings>Display Wired Summary.

Once you do that, you will be enabled to go to the embedded web page where you can gain access to the advanced settings for both wired and wireless (to include establishing your default key indexes)!!.........THIS IS NOT IN THE BOOK...

Glad to know it worked. TBH, I've worked with HP for 2 years now, and I've never dealt with a user who uses multiple WEP key indexes. So I'm believe it's not a commonly used feature. Besides, the WPA protocol is more secure, so I guess most people use that.
