Go to support.dell.com. Get Started Drivers and Downloads Choose by Service Tag, enter your service tag number off the barcode sticker on the back of the computer. This will give you the drivers page. You need chipset, audio, video, network, and modem (if installed).

yes been there and downloaded those but they didn't work for me.

You need to read the installation instructions for each one, they are not completely self-installing. The chipset drivers must be installed first.

Yes I understand that but there are 73 different files there for the dell 2400. How do I know which ones I need. As of right now the dell can't even access the internet because I don't have the network driver. I will have to download the files on a thumb drive and transfer that way.

I already told you - chipset, audio, video, network, and maybe modem. If you choose product support, configuration, original system configuration, then put in the service tag, it will give you a list of everything in the computer that it came with. If there is more than one driver for a specific device, choose the latest one.

working so far but when I got to video and downloaded it now the monitor goes black. what should I do now?

Did you install the correct driver? latest version of the driver?, their might be a conflict with something go into safe mode and remove it.
