I believe in most situations you have to take ownership of files/folders to delete them.

let me know how this goes. I am having the exact same problem. However, I believe the user I am using to access the remote devices doesnt have the right permissions. The remote device is not part of the domain, so generic users are configured (on the remote device). What you mean you can't take ownership? How comes? Anyways - try UNLOCKER. http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ That's if the folder is locked by a process or something - but taking ownership shouldn't be that difficult. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421 That describes XP. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421 http://www.lockergnome.com/windows/2...n-server-20 03/...

By they way, i finally got the files and folders deleted. i didnt notice the big "read only" attribute staring me in the face. As soon as I took it off, everything deleted. So make sure you are not making the same mistake.

If the above suggestions prove futile for some reason, try booting from a linux live cd (eg. Ubuntu, Knoppix) and delete the folder within that environment.

I'm having a similar prob. I can't seem to delete the files and folder left back from Windows 7 RC.
