Thread: Dedicated 22lr Military Stlyle Clones AR Sig 556..Thoughts

Started 1 month ago by loki993
There seems the be a new fad in the gun world. Dedicated black rifles in 22. Various manufacturers have release AR styled rifles in 22 and Sig has done it with their 556. Am I the only one that doesn't like this idea? Sure at first it may seem like a great one, but the more I think about it, what can they do that my 10/22 doesn't? Sure its the training aspect, I get it. Id rather see a ...

I love the 10/22, but the new Colt in 22LR is a good looking fun option. I don't have one, but I got to see my friends, says its great.

I have a Spikes .22 upper on one of my Doublestar lowers. I like it. It's fun and reliable and I can switch back if I need to.

Im sure it is, but its of no use to me if I cant go to 223 if I want to. Id rather just get one in 223 and keep shooting my 10/22. I'm just having a hard time understanding why they all chose to make a dedicated gun for the caliber instead of making one that was capable of switching up at a later time. I'm sure its all about trying to keep the cost down, but I'm sure if they tried they could have...

I'm thrilled with my TacSol AR-22 build. Don't care for the plastic proprietary clones. They may cost the same as a dedicated AR22 upper, but there's a reason. They aren't really ARs. I can practice all day long for cheap on an actual AR with the same dimensions, weight, trigger, lower, stock, and sights so it's not just fruitless plinking. It's also an excellent way to teach someone new to ...

For me I bought the M&P 15 22, because it's more useful to me than a .223. For example if someone broke into my house I would go for my G19 or 870 over a AR. Plus it is alot cheaper to shoot and the initial buy is cheaper. So I can have a good looking rifle that I can use and accessorize with everything a normal AR can. Then later down the line if I choose I need a .223 I can take all the ...

I recently bought the S&W M&P 15-22. I'm right impressed with the gun. Fun to shoot and it appears to be more accurate than my 10/22. It's the same size as my Bushmaster, with the same controls. The 22 is 1lb 10oz lighter than my AR. All the controls and even the trigger feels exactly like my Bushmasters. Last week I taught a lady to shoot the .223 AR. First she shot a ...

I don't know. All I'm saying is I really wished they would have offered a "real' AR in 22. I would have bought one.

I love my M&P15-22. Why? 1: Because I don't have an AR to convert. 2: To get a 10/22 to look like an AR it would cost the same as the M&P. 3: It is extremely accurate and feeds a huge variety of ammo reliably. 4. I wanted a .22 that would feed bulk ammo reliably, and this one does. To this date I haven't had ANY light strikes or failures to feed. Although I did have a winchester ...

Yeah, I don't like cleaning guns, so I appreciate one that is easy to clean. The bolt and carrier comes out just like the AR. The bolt, carrier and rest of the gun can be wiped clean with just a oily rag in a couple minutes.

An AR is just a style of rifle, just because it isn't .223 doesn't make it not "real." So are the 6.8 and .308 AR's not "real" either because they aren't the original .223? They are real...

A dedicated AR-22 upper can be found for $499 (the TacSol is on sale at BDM) and the Spikes usually starts around $549.
