Very exciting news, this is the first I've heard about a roller coaster.Quote: The face lift of the 18-acre midway will take two or three years and cost $20 million. The latest plans call for it to operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from June 1 to Labor Day.Is the early closing time to avoid a criminal element? If so, thatsdissapointing because the best time to be out on the midway is after dark. But ...

That's great news! And the timing helps to make obvious DART's huge impacton this monumental development for the city. This is really, really great. It's like having a Coney Island a ten minute train ride away from TimesSquare, only much more interesting and impressive than Coney Island itselfhas been in years.

^In regards to the night hours, I think it has more to do with keepingcosts in check until revenues are proven. Perhaps they can have eveninghours on Fridays and Saturdays to start with, and as that proves togenerate a profit, they can expand from there.

I went to Seattle in May and saw that their "Midway" next to the SpaceNeedle was open. And many families were there during the day. I thinksomething like having a year around Midway would work in Fair Park.Six Flags is in the doldrums at least nationwide. They are having sell offand shut down some parks.I think Fair Park's historical buildings, and lights of the Midway andcorny dogs will ...

This seems like a good inspiration to rebuild the actual original Ford building that used to sit where the Grand Place sits now if they want a permanent modern rebuilt Art Deco home. I'm sure the Fair and the city can figure out how to bring in an attraction and keep space for the State Fair tenants as well. Out with the trains and in with the cars.

/\ That is great! All these buildings should be used year round--- If they can get enough museums going at Fair Park then I think they will eventually reach critical mass and cross pollinate each other. The Fair has already started using temporary buildings around the park during the fair... and I don't see why they can't continue to do that as these permanent buildings start to get permanent exhibits.
