Thread: DS waking up in the middle of the night!

Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by Collette82
It been a couple of weeks of battles now.  At first it was him fighting us about going to bed but that seems to have gotten a little better.  It does take a couple of tries to get him to stay.  However in the last 2 weeks every night he wakes up anywhere from 12am - 3am and is crying.  He comes up to our bedroom and wants to sleep in our bed.  (Now keep in mind that he has been sleeping in his ...

I'm having the same problem with my 2 1/2 year old!  Lastnight was particularly rough.  He cries and just will not calm down.  If my husband or I do not go to him, he will cry until he is almost hyperventalating.  I know this isn't helpful, but I am interested to see if any one can offer any advice! We have the same problem from time to time.  I think you have to just ride it out.  Mine will go through these stages of sleeping just great and other stages of waking up in the middle of the night and crying.  It is frustrating, we have been through a few cycles of this in the last year.  We even went through a month of weekly night terrors which if you haven't experienced are horrible!

My son has always been a wonderful sleeper, but for the past couple of months he has also started waking up.  It's usually at 4 and he wants to play.  But sometimes he wakes up screaming like he's had a nightmare.  He talks about monsters and owls...??  Sometimes I have to lay with him for a few minutes to get him back to sleep.  I would recommend NEVER letting him sleep in the bed with you when...

We have been having a battle with our little guy too. He has been waking up between 2am and 5am and want to stay up for the day. He did this for almost two weeks and we brought him to the doc. He happened to have an ear infection. He did good while on his antibiotic but just last night he woke up at 4am and stayed up for the day. We do have him take 1mg of melatonin sometimes at night and that ...

My son is a horrible sleeper. Actually all of my kids are awful sleepers. Once my DD got her 2nd year molars in she started sleeping more consistently through the night. We've struggled with night terrors too with our son and those are awful. Thankfully my DS has been getting those less frequently. I also think around 2.5 is when more fears start to set and they start having nightmares. My DS...

Tia's sleep is terrible too. It takes her forever to fall asleep because she is allegedly scared of so many random things - shadows from the blinds, polar bears coming in the house and eating chicken nuggets (!?!), etc. Once she does fall asleep she usually wakes up 1-3 times screaming in the night and talking about scary giants/ogres/bears etc. For a few weeks she was waking up screaming "don't...

OMG I almost choked on my tootsie pop (I need the halloween candy to go away) when I read Tia's mommy's story about Tia not sleeping because polar bears are coming in for her nuggets.  LOL.  I have a feeling that most people's 2.5 year olds are in "big boy" or "big girl" beds but mine is still in his crib.  He has never tried to crawl out and I have been so afraid that he would never lay in ...

It's on and off now with the sleep.  Last night he didn't wake up but not so lucky for the night before.  I think a little earlier betime and a full dinner may help.  I know they say rice in the babys milk will help them sleep.  Perhaps it's true when they get older.  I'm going to make sure he has a full dinner before bed. (Kinda like a Thanksgiving effect.)  'm trying more and more not to let...
