If anyone still cares (or ever cared), I found the problem. After acraptonofgoogling, I found out that the 360 doesn't feature analog pressure sensitive buttons. The "shove" that I mentioned is the result of the 360 thinking my "normal" tap of the punch button was a "hard" tap. Sorry if this is really inappropriate what with the posting of doa3 stuff here, but I can't imagine anyone looking at the doa3 board anymore and it's pretty much the same game mechanics-wise. I'm trying to beat kasumi's exercise to get her 3rd costume.
