Thread: Cyber Flash 1.20 vs. 1.25?

Started 1 month ago by downs_chris
Is the 1.20 a lot less durable compared to the 1.25? Spin potential that much different? Power?

For me, the difference was slight. Perhaps a tad more feel and spin. Can't speak about durability though since I cut them out after 4-6 hours.

Very similar if strung at different tensions to compensate for gauge difference. 1.20 has some extra pop and a tiny bit softer feel even at 55/56. I prefer 1.25 at lower tension (~50lb). Great control and still good pop. Spin about the same. I have to try 1.20 at low tension and let you know how it performs.

I forgot about durability... I cut them before they break because when they start to go dead they really hurt my arm. I usually keep them on my frames 4-5 sessions at most (~10 hours).

thanks for the info...i did buy a mini-reel of the 1.20 to try out...i've been liking the full bed of the 1.20 -- and I kind of rather have the string break before it goes dead...

If you break the 1.20 too soon try the 1.25 but string at least 4 lb lower. If you string them at the same tension they will feel very stiff in comparison. At least this is my experience. I use both 1.20 and 1.25 now and I love both of them.

do you ever do a hybrid job? like using the 1.25 in the mains, and the 1.20 in the crosses?

yeah...different gauges of the same string...i've heard of people using 1.25 in the mains, and 1.20 in the crosses (topspin cyber flash)...

I never tried but I agree with maratsafin above. Your main strings most likely are gonna dominate the playability. I n other words your racquet is gonna play very much like a full 1.25. the 1.20 in the crosses might give you a bit of more comfort and softer feel. but i think you have to try it yourself which is always the best thing. my 2 cents.

btw you didn't mention your racquet and the actual tension you string the 1.20.

from what ive notised personally, the cross strings come more so into play when you slice, volley and when you serve the ball, a kick server could possibly benefit greatlly with the setup mentioned 1.25 mains 1.20 crosses
